Seeking members of the Lloyd’s market community to get involved in the Lloyd’s Lab

Help us identify the market’s big issues

The Lab’s purpose is to address the unique and rapidly changing needs of the Lloyd’s market through technology-driven solutions.

We’re always interested in hearing from market practitioners to help us set the brief for the next cohort of the Lloyd’s Lab.

Whether you are a broker with an idea for improving the placement process or an underwriter who believes we should rethink the way we handle claims, we are interested in the use cases or themes you think could be tackled by insurtechs.

Becoming a Lloyd’s Lab Mentor or Innovation Advisor

For each cohort we seek Lloyd’s market mentors and innovation advisors to influence and support the start-ups.

Team mentors

Insurance experts from the Lloyd’s market who will support a team’s work by offering insights, helping unlock data, making introductions and championing the project within their managing agent.

Team mentors will ensure start-ups are testing and tailoring their solutions in line with the Lloyd’s market’s objectives and values.

Mentors are encouraged to lead on embedding learnings from the Lab across their Managing Agent and unlocking resource to support the success of the start-up, when needed.

Team Mentor roles are open to Lloyd’s syndicates only. Please register your interest here and we’ll be in contact.

Time commitment: We estimate around 2 hours per week on average, with hotspots where the time required will increase slightly to cater to increased on-boarding and off-boarding activity.

Innovation advisors

To reinforce and support the work of the Team mentors, we are working to build a network of Innovation advisors around the Lab.

Lloyd’s Lab innovation advisors are subject matter experts from the Lloyd’s market who have an interest in the Lab, InsurTech, and innovation, and are keen to meet some of the teams to offer advice and networks. This could include underwriters, actuaries, data specialists, legal, supply chain, procurement, operations or finance experts.

Innovation advisors will be contacted if a start-up asks to meet those who have particular capabilities, e.g. brokers, as indicated on the registration form.  They will also be invited to Lab events.

Innovation advisor roles are open to Lloyd’s market participants.

Time commitment: No formal time commitment.
